Some of the top hoverboards on the market offer a good range, great speed as one of the fastest hoverboards on the market, and a good battery charge time. The Swagtron T6 Outlaw off-road hoverboard covers all three and even has a few other aspects which can be considered better than average.
Let’s see exactly what the Outlaw brings to the table.
The Swagtron T6 Outlaw has a pretty impressive battery range of 12 miles per charge; this matches perfectly with its maximum speed of 10 mph. This makes the Swagtron T6 Outlaw a great choice for cruising in town while still having enough battery life to come back home for a recharge period.
Its maximum speed isn’t fast enough that you should be worried about serious injury if you do accidentally take a tumble, but it’s also quick enough that you feel like you’re actually making progress towards your destination instead of just crawling along.
There are three different modes that you can choose from when riding the Swagtron T6 Outlaw: Learning Mode, Standard Mode or Advanced Mode. The learning mode allows you to get the hang of the hoverboard without accidentally engaging its top speed. Standard mode opens up the top speed for the rider, while Advanced mode gives even more fine control over the hover board’s direction as a result of the rider’s leaning. It’s also quicker to engage top speed in Advanced mode.
Switching between the modes only requires holding the power button for a few seconds to cycle through.
One of the most interesting aspects of the Outlaw is its ability to integrate with your phone via Bluetooth. All of this can be accomplished via the SWAGTRON app, which only requires you to download it, connect your phone to the hoverboard, and be on your way.
You can play music directly from your phone’s library. You can also use the app to check the battery levels of your hoverboard, check the speed, and even change your riding mode all at the press of a button.
The Swagtron T6 Outlaw is made with a robust 300-watt dual-motor system. The dual-motor construction allows it to maintain its top speed for lengthy periods of time without overheating or being too loud. It’s also powerful enough to tackle 30° inclines and discharge through virtually any kind of terrain. The wheels are pretty large at 10 inches in diameter and are treaded to allow them to cross muddy or wet ground without issue.
The batteries are lithium-ion types and only require a charge time between two or three hours to go from no power to fully charged. A battery indicator is easily checkable if you aren’t hooked up to the Bluetooth app so that you’re never caught off guard when it’s time to charge.
The frame is made from ABS – acrylonitrile butadiene styrene – plastic and aluminum; this allows the hoverboard to be durable and has a strong frame capable of supporting writers up to 420 pounds. At the same time, the hoverboard weights a little bit over 30 pounds, so in the event that you run out of battery at an inopportune moment, it’s not too heavy to handle and carry back home. It is, however, heavy in comparison to most hoverboards.
Safety is certainly a consideration when it comes to the Swagtron T6 Outlaw. The batteries are protected by SentryShield casings that prevent the batteries from overheating and catching on fire. The Outlaw allows you to enjoy its maximum speed without worry thanks to the extra-wide foot pedals that are positioned perfectly on the inside of the tires. The pedals are designed to be non-slip, so you can comfortably and securely ride along bumpy or smooth roads just the same.
Of course, the Outlaw is also totally certified according to the UL2272 standards. This ensures that the hoverboard is in no danger of catching fire, and in addition, the Outlaw is rated IPX4. This means that the hoverboard is proofed against water spray, further preventing any potential hazard that may cause the batteries to fail or the board to cease operation.
Swagtron offers exemplary customer service seven days a week; they’re US-based so their hours of operation are based on those time zones. There’s also free standard shipping if you live in the continental US, and each purchase also includes a 30-day refund period in which you can return your hoverboard no questions asked if you aren’t satisfied.
A limited 1-year warranty is also available from Swagtron. This will replace various parts of your hoverboard provided that they have not disintegrated from normal wear and tear (i.e. so long as the parts aren’t functioning as a result of abnormal behavior or construction).
There is a couple of downsides to this otherwise-awesome hoverboard. On the one hand, using the Bluetooth integration systems will drain your battery more quickly than if you left it alone. The exact amount of time that your hoverboard can run is, therefore, a little trickier to measure if you plan on playing music for the duration of your riding time.
In addition, the price for the Outlaw is a little steep. It’s definitely not a budget pick, so we’d only recommend it if you are sure you’ll use this beauty.
The Swagtron T6 Outlaw is a versatile hoverboard that can be used by both experienced riders or beginners thanks to its three switchable modes. Because of its wide, treaded wheels, it’s also a great pick if you plan to ride across different types of ground; you can easily switch between paved roads or dirt roads with little trouble.
In addition, the Outlaw can be a great choice for anyone a little on the heavy side, both due to its ultimate weight capacity and its wider foot pedals.
The Swagboard T6 Outlaw scores 4.5 out of 5 stars on our rating list.
It’s an excellent hoverboard with all kinds of great features. The only real thing holding it back is that the Bluetooth functionality can be more of a drain on the battery then we’d like to see. But it’s still a great option, particularly if you won’t need to go the full 12 miles possible from a single charge.
Overall, the speed, design, various modes, and excellent handling make this one of the best hoverboards on the market that you can get in the U.S.
If you’re short on cash, you may want to shop for cheaper models instead. More info on that here.
