Editorial Policy
Last updated: February 2026
ERideHero is an independent review platform covering electric scooters, e-bikes, electric skateboards, unicycles, and hoverboards. We exist to help you make confident buying decisions, not to sell you something.
This page explains how we fund our work, how we test products, and where we draw the line between editorial and commerce.
How We Make Money
ERideHero earns revenue through affiliate commissions. When you click a retailer link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is what keeps the site running and allows us to continue publishing free, in-depth reviews and tools. For full legal details, see our disclaimers.
Our affiliate partners include Amazon, major e-mobility retailers, and brand-direct stores. The presence or absence of an affiliate relationship never influences our editorial opinions, scores, or recommendations. Products without affiliate links receive the same treatment as those with them.
We will never recommend a product we don’t genuinely believe in just because it pays a higher commission.
How We Test
Since 2019, we’ve hands-on ridden and tested over 120 electric rides using a consistent 30-point data-point methodology. Every product we review goes through real-world testing on roads, hills, bike paths, and in varying weather conditions.
Our testing covers performance (speed, acceleration, hill climbing), range and battery life, build quality, ride comfort, braking, portability, and value for money. We measure what we can and ride everything else until we have a clear picture.
We don’t publish reviews based on spec sheets. If we haven’t tested it, we say so.
Review Units & Manufacturer Relationships
Most of the products we review are purchased with our own money. When that isn’t feasible, particularly for higher-priced models, we accept review units from manufacturers.
Our policy on review units is simple:
- Manufacturers receive no editorial input or approval over our content.
- They do not see reviews before publication.
- Review units are kept by ERideHero for long-term testing and follow-up coverage.
- Loaner units are returned after the review period with no strings attached.
Whether we bought a product or received it for review has no bearing on our opinion. A bad scooter is a bad scooter regardless of who paid for it.
Our long-term goal is to purchase every product we review. As the site grows, we’re working toward full financial independence from manufacturer-supplied units.
Price Data & Deal Recommendations
Our pricing tools track over 1,000 products daily across dozens of retailers in the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia. When we label something a “deal,” it means the current price has dropped below its actual selling average, not a retailer’s inflated list price.
We built these tools because we were tired of fake “50% off” sales. You deserve to know whether you’re actually getting a good price.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to assist with drafting and streamlining content, things like structuring articles, tightening language, and speeding up repetitive writing tasks.
All editorial judgment, product opinions, testing observations, and recommendations come from our team. AI doesn’t ride scooters or write our reviews. Every piece of content is reviewed and edited by a human before publication.
Accountability
If you believe any of our content is inaccurate, biased, or misleading, we want to hear about it. Get in touch with us through our contact page, and we’ll investigate promptly.
We correct errors openly and update reviews when products receive meaningful firmware or hardware changes.
