The first thing that’ll most certainly get your interest sparking about this hoverboard is its price. As you may know, since regulations were introduced, hoverboards have increased in price due to lots of safety measures that have to be met.
Costing only around $200, the Swagtron T580 vibe is a solid contender for the best cheap hoverboard. Especially considering its impressive list of features that you wouldn’t expect at this price point, the board seems very interesting.
Not very many hoverboards at this price point come with built-in Bluetooth speakers and an iOS/Android companion app. This is great news!
The Bluetooth speakers aren’t the best by any means, but it’s definitely enough for any kid who wants that extra bit of action on the move by blasting their favorite tunes.
The companion app is one of the best features of the Swagboard T580 Vibe. The companion app is the default one by Swagtron and it’s fair to say that it’s one of the best on the market. Lesser-known companies often have compatibility issues and buggy apps due to their limited product range. However, Swagtron is a renounced company in the field of electric rides so they’ve developed an app that absolutely kicks ass.
From the app, you can unlock the full potential of your hoverboard. You can alternate between different riding modes (more on that later), track battery and speed as well as remotely start your hoverboard. Additionally, you can set the acceleration or a speed limit you feel comfortable with. Another sweet function is the ability to customize the steering sensitivity of your hoverboard.
So let’s get into details about the actual specifications of how the Swagtron T580 Vibe performs.
As noted by Swagtron themselves on their website, the top speed of this hoverboard is 7.5 miles per hour (or roughly 12 km/h). In comparison, the best hoverboards can reach 10-12 MPH, but they usually cost a lot more.
However, it’s only fair to make a comparison between equally priced hoverboards. Other hoverboards in the $200-range usually reach top speeds of 5-7 mph which means that the T580 is a few steps ahead of the competition.
When taking a look at the range per charge, the T580 continues to impress. On average, the Swagtron T580 will be able to cover 8 miles per charge which is definitely a step up from the closest competitors in terms of pricing.
The hoverboard is powered to 400 watts of motor power, which is pretty average. However, the fact that it’s a well-produced and lightweight hoverboard is the very reason it outperforms the competition.
As far as performance is concerned, the Swagtron T580 is a highly competitive hoverboard that brings lots of power and range to the table for its price.
The Swagtron T580 is ideal for riding in urban areas with flat terrain. Due to the fact that it only has 6.5″ wheels, it won’t be able to tackle all-terrain scenarios.
With that said, the tires are still finely rugged and decently wide which ensures a very smooth ride on surfaces that aren’t too challenging.
The hoverboard only weighs 20 lbs which makes it one of the best lightweight hoverboards around. The fact that it is so lightweight makes it easy to move around and accelerate quickly.
It has the ability to climb 20-degree hills which allows you to get around on campus (or wherever you are) super quickly. A very ideal situation for commuters.
The hoverboard is geared with non-slip foot pads which ensures you always have a firm grip on the board. T580 is geared with bright LED headlights as well, which will make things a lot safer in low-light settings.
Like all other Swagtron hoverboards, the T580 Vibe has passed rigorous safety tests that have earned it the UL2272 safety certification. The hoverboard offers multi-layer protection through its SentryShield and Smart Battery Management technology. This keeps the board safe from overheating and potential over-voltage issues.
As mentioned earlier, the hoverboard has different riding modes that can be controlled directly within the companion app. You’ll find a learning mode, a standard mode, and an advanced mode. This gives a lot of room for improving your skills as you go and is highly ideal for beginners.
The hoverboard is ideal for kids and adults alike. It is able to support loads between 44 lbs and 220 lbs which means most riders should be able to use it.
All in all, the Swagtron T580 is a very balanced hoverboard that offers lots of value at a very competitive price. The battery life is decent, the top speed is good and it is packed with features to ensure you the greatest riding experience possible. It is ideal for commuting or recreational use in urban areas but does run short if you wanna go off-road.
It is not the best hoverboard in the world, but it is definitely in the top 3 at its price point. If you’re looking to get a solid hoverboard without breaking the bank, the Swagtron T580 is one of the best choices out there.
It falls just short of its sister, the Swagtron T1, in terms of range, but it certainly makes up for that by having more features.
