Whether you need a better way to get to work or you just want to take leisurely rides, electric scooters are an affordable and fun purchase. You can save on gas and time if you use an electric scooter rather than a car if you live in traffic-dense areas. You may be considering buying an electric scooter but you may not know which one has the best value and meets your specific needs.

Well, the EMOVE Touring 2020 electric scooter may be the best choice for you. This is one of EMOVE’s newer models and is like a little brother to the more expensive EMOVE Cruiser. In this article, we are going to take a look at the Emove Touring and give an honest and in-depth review. Continue reading if you want to find out more about the EMOVE Touring and see if this is amongst the best e-scooters for you.

Speed and Acceleration

Rear wheel and hub motor on Emove Touring electric scooter

The EMOVE Touring isn’t for racing, but it reaches a high enough speed to meet your needs if you’re commuting or just going for a scenic ride. The EMOVE website claims that this scooter can reach speeds of up to 25 MPH, which is certainly fast enough to get you to work on time without feeling like you’re moving too quickly. Some riders even claim that they have reached speeds of 30 MPH on long, flat stretches but this will vary depending on the rider’s weight.

With a 48V 500W rear-powered brushless motor, the Touring has enough power to accelerate quickly on flat areas and slight inclines. The acceleration is responsive and speedy, but there are other scooters out there that can provide more torque for a few hundred dollars more.

As with most scooters, the acceleration drops off a bit if you start moving while on an incline. The Touring’s performance starts to slow at inclines greater than 10% which is pretty on par with most electric scooters in this price range.

Battery and Range

This electric scooter has a pretty decent range for its price. The Emove Touring is packing a 48V 13Ah LG battery that is made in accordance with ISO manufacturing standards so you know it’s going to be reliable. This should be able to give most riders a range of 25 miles per full charge, which is long enough for lengthier commutes but it won’t be able to get you everywhere. Luckily, this battery only takes three to four hours to charge so you can easily charge it while you’re at work or running other errands.

A scooter with a similar range would be the Apollo City, which costs an additional $100. The Touring can compete with scooters in higher price ranges in regards to its battery power which speaks to its value.

Suspension and Ride Quality

Closeup of suspension on the Emove Touring

The suspension on the Touring is one of its best features. The Touring has a triple suspension system with front stem suspension, front dual spring suspension, and rear dual suspension.

This should make it easier for heavier riders to get around, as the Touring boasts that it can support up to 308 pounds, which is impressive for its price. It is safe to say that the Emove Touring can compete with more expensive electric scooters for heavier rider weights. With a high deck clearance of 5 inches, it is very unlikely that any rider will bottom out while riding.

Some lighter users (~150 pounds) have noted that they aren’t heavy enough to truly experience the benefits of the triple suspension system, so it may not be the most efficient suspension for everybody though you should be able to adjust the springs with a little know-how. Most likely this will wear in a bit with time as well to provide additional comfort.

The Touring does have a pneumatic front tire so this should also add a little bit of suspension, but the rear wheel is solid so off-roading may not be the best experience.

Emove Touring Folded down

The Touring is relatively lightweight when you consider that it can support over 300 pounds. Weighing in at only 39 pounds itself, the Emove Touring is easy to carry around short distances without leaving you fatigued. While some electric scooters can be as light as 25 pounds, you won’t see any that light with the same amount of power as the Touring.

This e-scooter folds at the deck which reduces its height when folded compared to other e-scooters that fold at the stem. The handlebar folds in too, which makes it more compact in terms of width, but the deck is wide so it’s definitely not the most compact electric scooter in the world.

When completely folded, the Emove Touring’s dimensions are 43 inches in length, 8 inches in width, and 11.5 inches in height. This is pretty standard for electric scooters with this amount of power, so while it’s nothing to write home about it’s certainly not cumbersome.

Build Quality and Safety

The build quality of the Touring is of a high standard and will give you peace of mind when riding it that you won’t break down. The battery has a splash-proof rating and all the wiring is waterproof so you don’t have to worry about riding in wet conditions or over puddles. Even when folded the locking mechanism seems secure and it is very unlikely to break.

The Touring comes with an anti-theft lock that is deactivated with a key which is a really nice feature. Another great feature is the wide deck build, which is 7 inches in width and provides a good amount of comfort for long rides and users with large feet.

There are front lights and a rear light on the Emove Touring that claim to provide enough visibility for night riding but as with most electric scooters, you may want to purchase an additional headlight just to get that extra bit of brightness. There is only a rear drum brake on the Touring, so you won’t stop on a dime but this is usually standard for most scooters in this price range so it’s to be expected.

Support and Warranty

VoroMotors offers a 12-month warranty on all of its products. If you experience an issue within 30 days of receiving your order, they will ship and replace whatever parts you need for free. If a claim is made after 30 days of receiving the order, then the buyer will only have to pay for shipping. As always, the warranty is voided if you install any unauthorized modifications to your scooter.

They also supply what they call “after-sales service content” which is actually a pretty decent feature. If you purchase an EMOVE product, then you can unlock access to dozens of online videos and tutorials that instruct you on how to repair and replace most parts within the scooter. This is especially nice for riders who like to do their own handy-work to save a few bucks from going to a repair shop.

Who Should Buy the EMOVE Touring 2020?

This scooter ranks at 8 out of 10 possible points. It is a solid purchase for the features it has at its price. It can support heavier weights, has a decent range and speed, has a triple suspension system, and has a quality build that makes it an all-around good electric scooter.

There are minor drawbacks, such as only one rear drum brake but the positives mostly outweigh the negatives for this scooter. This scooter is great for commuters regardless if you’re a new or experienced rider. It has a range of 25 miles, so it could be a viable option for those who live just outside of city limits as well. All in all, the EMOVE Touring 2020 is a great scooter for its price.
