Inmotion V10/V10F Electric Unicycle Review

The V10 and V10F both offer impressive features that are sure to appeal to any beginner or experienced electric unicycle fan. Both have motors around 2000 watts, a fast top speed, and a long range that’s great for commuting. If you liked the V8, you’ll be getting an upgrade with either one of these newer models.

Today, we take a close look at the Inmotion V10 and V10F to see if it holds up to its reputation as one of the best electric unicycles for the money.

Motor and battery

The Inmotion V10 and V10F have similar specs when it comes to power. The V10 has an 1800-watt motor and 650Wh battery. That gets you at least 30 miles in range. The V10F has a 2000-watt motor and larger 960Wh battery capacity, so the range is increased to at least 40 miles.

On the product page, InMotion claims you can get up to 40 miles with the regular V10 and up to 60 miles with the V10F. This represents ideal conditions and a lowered speed, so we’re more comfortable saying the range with the V10/V10F is between 30-40 miles.

The speed on both models is the same, so you aren’t compromising there if you want the slightly more affordable Inmotion V10. The 960Wh battery takes around 8 hours to charge, while the smaller ones will take 6 hours. The climbing grade is 30-degrees.

Construction

There are a lot of construction details to point out. InMotion built the Inmotion V10 and V10F “from the ground up,” so it represents a lot of work and care. The EUC has a slim body, which lets you maintain better control and get on and off the vehicle more easily. Even with the larger battery, the V10 and V10F is balanced carefully, so the weight isn’t centered on the top.

We also like high-mounted pedals, which give you a big surface with high-grip rubber. You’ll feel more comfortable and secure. The height of the pedals also helps with making tight corners and quick maneuvers. As for the tire, it’s 16-inches and 2.5-inches wide. Thanks to its size, you’re able to smoothly ride on grass, gravel, and other rougher terrain.

Riders up to 260 pounds can safely ride the V10/V10F. The unicycle itself weighs just about 45 ½ pounds. When you can’t ride it somewhere, pull out the retractable handle and trolley it.

Lighting, speakers, and app

What else does the Inmotion V10 and Inmotion V10F have to offer? There’s a lot. The brighter headlight is a standout. It’s three times brighter than what’s in the V8. It’s angled down, so it illuminates 15-feet of the path you’re traveling without bothering anyone in front of you. There’s also a brake light and three customizable LED lights on either side of the wheel. While riding at night is not recommended for any EUC, it’s good to know you will be visible if that happens.

Do you like to play music while you ride? The wheel comes with a premium speaker. It’s also equipped with high-fidelity voice prompts in case something needs your attention. Use the app to customize your lighting and pedal sensibility. You’ll also see stats like your current speed.

Safety features

How safe is the V10/V10F? There are a few features we want to point out. The unicycle is built with high-speed dual-core CPUs. The superior power and programming let the wheel respond very fast in critical situations. All unicycles wear down over time, but the V10/V10F is built to last thanks to the active cooling system, which protects each component. There’s also overload protection, over-temperature protection, and slant protection.

As for dust and moisture, the V10/V10F has an IP55 rating. This means it’s protected against “dust ingress,” but not dust-proof. The same goes for water. It’s protected against strong water jets, so it’s okay to ride in light rain, but it shouldn’t be submerged. To keep your wheel in the best shape possible, always store it indoors and clean after muddy rides.

InMotion has a support tab on their website, so you can search for frequently asked questions. You can also fill out a service request or contact a support agent directly. They’ll only accept returns if they have not been opened. If you decide you don’t want the unicycle and it’s still unopened in its packaging, you have 30 days to return. Contact InMotion first to request a return before shipping.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects up to 1 year after the date of your purchase. If the item is refurbished, the warranty is 90 days from the purchase date. “Open Box” products have 6-month warranty coverage.

Downsides

While we love the Inmotion V10/V10F, it isn’t without its flaws. Some riders might find the 25 mph a bit slow. It’s also dependent on the battery, so when it dips below 66%, you lose speed. This protects the unicycle, but monitoring the battery charge all the time can get annoying. The other downside is that the V10/F isn’t great on hills. This is because it has a protection in place that forces you to dismount when the controller hits a certain temperature. Overheating is more likely to happen on hills because the motor works harder than on flat terrain. If you anticipate a lot of hills on your ride, this probably isn’t the best choice for you.

Who should buy the Inmotion V10/V10F?

The Inmotion V10/V10F has a lot of features riders are looking for without breaking the bank. If you are new to unicycles and want to be sure you’re getting a quality product, this is a great choice. It’s also a good choice for more experienced riders who don’t want to spend a ton of money.
