Introduction

Electric scooters vary greatly in price, and as such, they also greatly vary in things like speed, acceleration, range, and ride quality. You want to get the best combination of all these factors for the amount of money you spend. This time we are taking a look at the extremely high-end ZERO 11X electric scooter.

The ZERO X series offers upgraded scooters compared to the regular ZERO series, and comes with more powerful motors and batteries while also weighing significantly more. The ZERO 11X is the most powerful scooter in the X series, and as such, it is also the most expensive and the heaviest.

The price isn’t all for nothing though, as the Z11X has incredible range and power that blows all the other X scooters completely out of the water. If you are considering a ZERO X series scooter, then read on to find out what the Z11X has to offer.

Speed and Acceleration

Let’s get this out of the way first: the ZERO 11X is an absolute powerhouse of an electric scooter. It has not just one, but two 1600W hub motors that can reach a peak output of 5600W. This is incredibly powerful and you will not find this in many other places. Not only is the Zero 11X incredibly powerful, but it’s also one of the fastest electric scooters in the world.

With its two 1600W motors, the Zero 11X can reach speeds of 60+ MPH. If you are not aware, this is insanely fast for something you’re going to be standing on. You’ll be able to speed past cars with this level of speed. With blazing speeds like this, it’s important to gear up - we recommend checking out our helmet buying guide and these safety tips so you can ride with confidence.

In a city, it’s unlikely that you’ll ever exceed 25 MPH on an electric scooter, and the Zero 11X can go more than twice as fast as that. You’ll have to tune the scooter using the P settings just to keep your speed down. The P settings will let you customize top speed, acceleration, torque and more which is a very nice feature to have so you can grow into the power this beast holds before unleashing it fully. We cannot stress enough that this is a crazy-fast e-scooter.

Zero 11X in the city

This electric scooter is better suited for thrill-seekers than average commuters, and you will want to have some experience with electric scooters before trying this one out at full capacity.

The acceleration on the Zero 11X is also remarkably powerful. If you just tap the throttle, the Zero 11X will instantly jump forward – it's very responsive. The only other scooters with similar acceleration are the Apollo Ultra and the Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11, which “only” has a 2400W motor.

Battery and Range

This high-end electric scooter has a powerful battery to match its motor. The ZERO 11X has a 72V 32Ah lithium-ion LG battery. Just for perspective, the ZERO 10X electric scooter has a 52V 24Ah battery for its upgraded model. That’s an increase in battery capacity of 85% (from 1248Wh to 2304Wh)

This battery is so big, that it has two charging ports so that you can cut the charging time in half. This means that one charger alone would take 20 hours to charge while using two chargers at once would cut that time down 10 hours, which is still a pretty long time. On the other hand, you most likely won’t have to charge too often.

With the Zero 11X’s massive battery, you can expect a range of 90 miles while riding in eco mode. That’s an entire week of commutes for some people. This is also another reason why this scooter is well-suited for off-roading, as you could ride it all day long without having to worry about it dying on you. The closest scooter we’ve reviewed that has a comparable range is the Dualtron Thunder, which still only has a range of 75 miles.

Suspension and Ride Quality

Zero 11X review suspension spring

If you’re going to be traveling at break-neck speeds, you’re definitely going to need top-quality suspension so you don’t go flying off as you ride. Again, the Z11X does not disappoint. This scooter has long-travel spring suspension at both the back and rear tires.

The suspension on this scooter is on the medium-hard side, but that’s somewhat necessary if you’re going to be moving at fast speeds. The only comparable scooter with this kind of suspension is the ZERO 10X, which has a little softer suspension, and that makes sense because the Zero 10X is lighter and not as powerful.

In addition to its dual-spring suspension, the Zero 11X has massive 11-inch pneumatic tires. Pneumatic electric scooter tires offer more shock absorption than solid tires, and it adds to the overall quality of the Zero 11X’s suspension. You won’t be able to notice the cracks and imperfections in the road. You can easily ride off sidewalk curbs and still have a butter-smooth ride. Some users describe it as “flying” because it’s so seamless to beat terrain on.

Because the suspension on this scooter is so good, it makes it ideal for thrill-seekers, speed enthusiasts and off-roaders who want to put this scooter to the test.

Portability

Zero 11X deck view

The Zero 11X’s portability is really its only real drawback apart from its price tag. The Z11X weighs in at a whopping 132lbs. Everything about this scooter is over-the-top and the same goes for its weight. With how heavy this scooter is, you’re going to struggle to pick it up and bring it places.

Because this scooter is so massive, it does have a load capacity of 330lbs, which is rather high but you’ll start to lose some performance as the weight increases. The Zero 10X has the same load capacity and it only weighs 80lbs.

Even when completely folded, this scooter is still rather large. Its folded size is 56x24x28 inches (LxWxH), and with its size and weight, you won’t be able to bring this scooter onto a bus. You can still transport it in bigger car trunks, however, which is nice if you want to drive it to an off-roading location and reserve your battery for when you’re actually there.

Build Quality and Safety

With how powerful this electric scooter is, it needs to be made out of pretty durable material to brace for potential impacts and the intended heavy-duty use. Again, the Zero 11X does not disappoint as its frame is constructed with aviation-grade aluminum alloy. ZERO scooters are already high quality, but the Zero 11X takes the cake when it comes to sturdiness and durability.

The deck is reinforced with two metallic rods to provide sturdiness, as well as to protect the battery. This scooter can absolutely take some of the abuse that’s likely to occur if you take it off-road. One thing to note is that the cables run alongside the stem so they are exposed, which some people may not like if they want their cables to be completely hidden.

The Zero 11X also has powerful brakes that are necessary to stop quickly from high speeds. This electric scooter has two hydraulic disc brakes, one for each wheel. These are some of the best brakes you can buy, and they are definitely needed for this high-power e-scooter. There is also an electric brake for the motor that is activated as you use your regular brakes.

The LCD display on the Zero 11X is pretty similar to the displays on the rest of the X series. It shows you your speed, mileage, battery, and mode. You can also use the display to cycle through the P-settings, which let you adjust the maximum output of the scooter. If you’re going to be riding in a city, it is recommended that you start low on the P-settings.

The lights on the Zero 11X are also similar to other scooters in the X series. It has LED lights in both the front and back, as well as brake lights. All the headlights on ZERO scooters are mounted low on the stem, which is great for seeing the ground in front of you but it doesn’t give you a high range of visibility so you might want to buy an additional headlight and attach it higher up.

All in all, the build quality on the Z11X is amazing and it has some nice safety features as well. Many people think that it has a better esthetic than the Dualtron Thunder, but you can decide that for yourself.

Support and Warranty

RevRides is the exclusive distributor for the ZERO brand scooters, and they offer the same warranty for all of their electric vehicles. All electric vehicles from RevRides come with a 12-month limited warranty. This warranty will only cover manufacturer defects, so they won’t cover things like water damage, wear and tear, or modifications.

All warranty claims made within five days of delivery will be fully paid for by RevRides. This means they will cover the cost of the replacement part as well as shipping. If you wait longer than five days to make a warranty claim, then you’re going to have to pay for the shipping of the replacement part yourself. Luckily, RevRides does provide free shipping on orders over $25, so that’s one less expense.

This is a large vehicle, and their website claims that it will be delivered on a palate, so you might need to do a little work beforehand to make sure you have the room for it.

Who Should Buy the ZERO 11X?

This is the beefiest ZERO brand electric scooter you can buy and one of the top-performing electric scooters on the market overall. While it has an incredible range and speed, it’s also very heavy and comes with a big price tag. Because of these reasons, we have to rank the Z11X with 8.1 out of 10 stars. We recommend this scooter for experienced riders and enthusiasts, but this scooter can accomplish any task so it’s good for anybody with a high enough budget.

If the Zero 11X and 10X both seem too big of a mouthful for you, you may want to check out the Zero 8X which is still a very capable dual-motor e-scooter. If you’re more interested in a commuting-friendly solution but like the Zero brand, check out our reviews of the Zero 8, Zero 9 and Zero 10.
